| In today’s business environment, everything we do should align with business strategy. There is a need for breakthrough improvements through innovation and incremental improvements on continuous basis. Quality systems are no longer focusing on Quality Assurance and Quality Control but the focus is moving towards enterprise wide “Business Excellence”. The overall aim is to run “IT like a business”. There are a number of different models for software development lifecycles. One thing which all models have in common is that at some point in the lifecycle, software has to be tested. In these models, scope of QA/Testing is just limited to verification of the developed system. Testing is always considered as a small phase in full development life cycle. It has not been fully explored as a parallel lifecycle to software development lifecycle starting from business strategy. This paper describes the business case on Enterprise Wide Testing Framework (ETF) development using CMMI®, Six Sigma, ITIL Best Practices, and Challenges faced while execution of this consulting assignment.
