Kiran Rao, Director of Information Systems, Sterling Commerce

This paper will outline how statistical and non-statistical Six Sigma tools can be customized and implemented to ensure zero defects throughout the offshoring and delivery of remote IT functions such as Network Operations, Helpdesk and Remote Server Support.

The paper will demonstrate how Six Sigma tools such as FMEA, Kano Analysis, DOE and SPC can be modified for specific use in processes such as Risk Analysis, Readiness Scorecard, Transition Matrix, Steady-state Delivery used in remote IT management. Finally, it will review how applications of Six Sigma in offshored IT environments can help eliminate power politics, sideline deal breakers and build overall commitment from senior management.
