Agile
Estimation Model

“Agile”
preaches: people need to focus their attention to
what is most important, it refers to maneuverability,
adaptability and ability to change to changing environments.
This dynamism brings out many questions which are
always asked “How estimation can
be done in an agile way that would fairly & accurately
measure size of the release?”
An estimate
using the suggested Agile Estimation Model is based
on the fact that the person doing this estimate has
medium understanding of the problem domain, system
size and architecture at the stage at which the estimate
is made.
Estimation is done after breaking down the work into
tasks and subtasks and estimating effort on each of
these items based on “Optimistic”, “Pessimistic”
& “Most Likely” effort sizing. Initial
estimates & adjustments factors taken together
help us arrive at an Agile Estimate, capable of estimating
for a release involving complex tasks, distributed
multiple teams, including developers with variable
technology and domain knowledge, dissimilar work environments.
