Testing from the Beginning: Use Cases at Work

In many organizations, software testing accounts for 30 to 50 percent of software development costs. yet most people believe that software is not well tested before it is delivered.

Haphazard methods of designing, organizing, and implementing testing activities and artifacts also frequently lead to less-than-adequate test coverage. having a straightforward plan for how testing is done can help increase coverage, efficiency, and ultimately software quality.

In this tutorial, we will discuss how using use cases to generate test cases can help launch the testing process early in the development lifecycle and also help with testing methodology.

Mr. Gopal Rajan has eighteen years of experience in the I.T. industry. He has worked on a wide variety of assignments in Computer Hardware, Networking, Software Development, Project Management, Software Quality Assurance, Training, Consulting, Mentoring and sales of case tools.

He has led many successful domestic and overseas software development projects. These projects are in the area of Telecom, Dairy, Banking, Supply chain, Manufacturing and Publishing.

Presently he is working for IBM, Rational Software as Technical Lead. He specializes in helping clients with adopting good Software Engineering Practices and Methodologies. He is currently responsible for propagating best software development practices and provides support for Requirement Management, Automated Testing and Change Management product line.

He has a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering from BMS Engineering College, Bangalore.
