The tutorial will aim to address the following learning objective:

Usage of Test effort estimation and scenario management tool.

Mindtree has developed a tool for Scenario Based test estimation and test methodology which helps in coming up with test effort estimation, helps in derivation and management of scenarios, generates reports and has Search facility.
Furthermore, they would be introduced to Scenario Based Test methodology which

  • Lays down some templates and guidelines for
    • How and when to gather what type of information
    • How to represent them for better understanding of the product
  • Stresses on thinking in terms of the user to
    • Realistically expose failures
    • Coming up with requirement gaps
  • Emphasizes on having constant interactions with all the stakeholders while
    • Forming product behavioral and usage scenarios
    • Prioritizing them according to the risk categories applicable to the product
    • Having a 2 stage review mechanism for the information documented in a structured format
  • Helps in proper product understanding and test case derivation by
    • Creation of dependency graph by visually representing with the help of pre-defined notation
    • Creation of graph from the dependency diagram and assignment of path lengths equal to 1/risk value of the node (scenario) transitioned to

Participants would be given sample projects for test effort estimation as a part of the tutorial exercise.

Swaminathan S is currently working as a Test Lead in Mindtree and has over 5 years of experience in Software Quality and testing.

Sudip Naha is working as a test lead in Mindtree Consulting and has over 6 years in software testing.
