Go
beyond software services
Times Of India,

Bangalore:
It’s
time to look at India as an engineering base for building products,
rather than as a pure software services country, according to
Sridhar Mitta, managing director, e4e Labs. And to make this a
reality to turn all information into a knowledge base – knowledge
management is indispensable, Mitta said at a seminar on “India -
the Knowledge Corporation: Uncommon Sense for Uncertain Times,”
organized by Times Internet, Touchtel and QAI in Bangalore on
Thursday.
According
to Mitta, a winning tech business can be built in India by
concentrating on intellectual property (IP) development and coming
out with products that the world requires. “But we face a number
of problems because, sitting here in India, we do not have access to
market intelligence outside; nor do companies have the ability to do
chip, hardware and software design together in a cluster,” he
added.
Remaining
competitive in the increasingly global and interconnected
marketplace means developing new ways of doing business.
“Knowledge management is critical for the long term success of
business enterprises, especially at a time when business means
speed,” pointed out Krishnakumar, vice-chairman, MindTree
Consulting.
