Business India March 3-16, 2003
For Mick Spiers, senior consultant
QAI, the toughest thing in India is negotiating its traffic. Counting
on the tips of his fingers, he says, "I've crossed the road
four times and I haven't been hit." In India for the first
time to promote the successful Capability Maturity Model Integrated
(CMMI®) level 1.1, Spiers upbeat about the prospects of this version.
He says, "This is the right time for the technology to be launched
in the country. Most of our prospective clients and we are at the
right maturity levels to adopt this technology that will integrate
all the various divisions of the organization and for the first
time allow for decision-making that is not routine." For example,
adopting this tool by the organization will allow it to reduce its
expense on the tendering process which is an expensive proposition
for most companies by concentrating on only those tenders that have
a chance of wining. Sixty companies, worldwide, have adopted this
tool that comes at a cost of Rs 16 lakh.
