      About the Conference
The Asia SEPGSM Conference brings together practitioners and thought leaders from industry, academia and government for sharing and exchanging ideas and learning in the area of software process improvement.

The Asia SEPGSM Conference will focus on the software process improvement for successful business initiatives. It will present the current state of practice in process improvement around the software process improvement (SPI) and demonstrate the results of SPI in achieving the business objectives.

Opportunity for subject area experts to share their in-depth expertise with other members of their profession; these should enable participants to apply specific techniques to real-world problems.
      The Best Practices Showcase (45 minutes including Q&A)
A Best Practice is a method, process, technology, culture, or organizational structure, used to achieve superior results and set an industry standard.
The SEPGSM Best Practice Showcase' recognizes and rewards the application of world-class software engineering methods, technologies and processes. To be recognized in this category, a practice must be documented to produce superior results compared to other practices industry-wide.

The award is based on evaluation of the written report.
Reports should identify and describe the candidate Best Practice, demonstrate its results or impact, document the process through which it was put into practice, and provide criteria to determine the likelihood of its success in other organizations.

      The Best Papers Showcase (45 minutes including Q&A)
The SEPGSM Best Paper Showcase' recognizes and rewards significant contributions to the field of software process improvement, software engineering and quality management.
Papers that deal with challenges of transitional technologies, and allow a better understanding and deeper insight into technologies, cultures, management styles of tomorrow, are solicited.
Contributions describing results, not just proposals, applying software process improvement techniques in real-life situations are encouraged.

Papers would be evaluated on the significance of one or many of the following attributes:

The content, criticality of IT usage, completeness, presentability and the way they address the key issues of relevance to industry, applicability in diverse environments, strategic advantage and macro issues.

      Selection and Evaluation Process
  • STEP ONE: Submit author intent form with biography and one page abstract
    Decide submission category - whether it is a Best Practice or Paper. Submit Author Intent Form, one page abstract, and biography to the Conference Manager. For Author intent form, log on to: www.qaiindia.com
    Upon receipt of the above, all authors will be contacted by the Conference Manager with guidelines, formats, evaluation criteria and other details of Report/Paper submission.

  • STEP TWO: Submission of Best Paper/Practice
    Submit Best Practice Report/Paper in accordance with the guidelines already sent to you. Submission does not guarantee presentation at the SEPG Conference but makes submission eligible for step three.
  • STEP THREE: Evaluation & Screening
    All submissions will be evaluated using detailed Best Practice/Paper evaluation criteria. A subset of submissions will get to present at the SEPG Conference.
  • STEP FOUR: Best Paper / Best Practice Awards (For India)
    The Awards Committee shall select one submission in each category (Best Practice/Paper) for awards. These awards will be announced and presented at the Conference Plenary Session in India.
      Key Dates for Submission to be a Speaker
  • Author Intent Form (with abstract and bio) latest by April 30, 2003
  • Final Papers/Best Practice/Tutorial presentations, latest by May 25, 2003
  • Notification of selection as Speaker: June 30, 2003
  • Awards at the Conference in India: August 01, 2003.
